In the small section where they quote Amazon’s perspective, it says:

> tell the employee that their performance is not meeting expectations

Then the rest of the article is all quotes about employees who are not sure if they are meeting expectations or not. Are managers just not following this guidance, or is there some other rule that says the opposite of this quote?

Not meet expectations is a widely different world than PIP especially if the signals you are getting otherwise make you feel like you are performing well. Managers are clearly told by amazon to communicate as little as possible about underperforming if employees can be on secret PIP for 12 months…
