Ward Christensen - he does a lot of cool stuff, most of it not widely known, including the 2 byte winning entry to a shortest useful program contest in the days of CP/M.

Honest question: How do you define indie hacker?

Just a one man band or a couple of people who are bootstrapping an idea, living reasonably comfortable from the money it makes

Second this. It feels like this term means more someone who is trying to build a business that's not necessarily a VC backed/growth business.

It's what others may call lifestyle business, or just small business.
