The damage to her was done by the asshole classmate, though.

The NYT just wrote it up after the fact.

Said write up was awful and the extent to which it made the asshole seem like a hero made me want to stab things, but it's worth blaming the NYT for all the things they did get wrong here and not the one thing they didn't :)

There are some people who just need to get roughed up a few times before they get a clue. A couple guys should just knock some sense into that guy for ruining this girl's life. This seems to no longer be the norm, though, so I guess people need some better way to exact retribution.

Ironic that the people outraged by a mob destroying someone wish for their own mob justice. As soon as the balance of power changes it will be unsafe for a whole different demographic.

It bothers me because the apparent neutral tone is actually very sympathetic towards the psychopath that held on to the video to release it for maximum damage. It's an endorsement for mob rule and cancel culture. They managed to cancel the future of a high-schooler and it's presented like an achievement and warning for others (one word can ruin your life), what country are we living in?
