Regarding the product, why would I use Rize.io instead of something like https://www.manictime.com ?
I think the core difference between ManicTime and Rize is that Rize is built solely for the individual developer/user. ManicTime (and other time trackers) have plans for individuals but make their money from teams/agencies/freelancers that use them as time sheets or for billing purposes.
Rize is built for the individual user to help them be more productive. It's sort of like a fitness app (Fitbit/Apple Watch) but for your work.
There are also two value props that I'd highlight for Rize on top showing you how you spend your time: improving your ability to focus and preventing burnout.
Rize has a built in focus score that will show you in depth metrics on how much focus time you're getting, how you're context switching, and which specific apps/websites are most distracting.
Rize also has automatic and manual break timers and break score. It's great for using the Pomodoro technique and helping you avoid overworking. Rize will also track your work hours and alert you when you've reached a certain threshold (also to help avoid overworking).
My name is Macgill and I'm one of the creators of Rize. My cofounder and I built Rize to help us understand how we work so we can continually improve based on data rather than guesswork.
I also wanted to add that we're offering 20% off Rize for the 3 months to Hacker News users. You can just apply the code HACKER_NEWS when you signup.
Really hope you all enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks
