But then there is the locked bootloader, the Apple tax, etc. etc.
All the things you state is only for their phones, not their computers. The bootloader isn't locked at all. And in terms of the "Apple tax". It's largely a myth. If you look at individual components used, they tend to be all top-end binned parts of everything. There is some Apple upmark, but it's not nearly as much as others say. You can't get a PC laptop with the same mix of low weight, high performance, and long longevity.
