A manager was annoyed and asked questions, and at the end of a meeting someone was tasked with recomputing efficacy using up-to-the-minute data, and in the meantime some more of the placebo patients had fallen ill so the results came out better. If Moderna hadn't published, that manager might have asked next week, or the week after, who knows.
