Then stay with steam or write your XY Dev that you will not buy the game when it's just on steam...you all have always the big mouth that you vote with your wallet...so do it, even when it hurts sometimes.
I agree with you for the most part, but unless you are organized with a very large group of people, voting with your wallet doesn't really accomplish anything.
