Ask HN: How to determine the right time for hiring channel sales for B2B SaaS?

We're trying to expand our sales and we're looking for more channels. Some are suggesting that there is no right time for hiring channel sales. While I think hiring them before product-market fit is akin to outsourcing sales. Please suggest.
