Yes, I know practice and perseverance will get me there, but what exactly is the right and most efficient way to build up on stuff to practice on?
Asking this on HN, and being a programmer myself, I would be more likely inclined to follow a strictly defined music theory rather than playing with ear, as I find "mathematical" notation easier to follow. Play by ear "might" come later when I get more experienced...? Not even sure if this last paragraph makes sense, I hope you get what I mean.
