Have you checked for windows resonating? It would be surprising if walls were acting as a high-pass filter.

Could also be electronic noise. I wonder what the machine is.

Air powered die grinder, drill, or impact gun. Or, if it sounds real choppy, maybe an AC TIG welder.

I’d bet die grinder. They’re not used all the time, and they have VERY high rpm sounds which are always terrible.

Do you think the high-pitch sound reflects from the house opposite to the windows?
