This is a good point that I'd like to see someone with experience expand on, maybe in a blog post: why backend or DevOps is better for older devs than front end.
My TL;DR version would be that front end, especially JS, is a fast moving target. Backend dev is based more on time tested and reliable platforms that incentivize solid framework and design choices.
Yes, backend seems to be a little slower paced. With the notable exception of cloud-native platforms, especially kubernetes ecosystem where seems to be one new framework every week.
