Ask HN: Hacking and learning from my school project

Hey HN, any chance you could help me help myself with a few suggestions?

I am looking for an issue to inform others about and take a persuasive angle on, but ideally one that will help me learn about something related to programming, startups, etc.

Needs to be a reasonably big issue - big enough to get in an Australian newspaper (since Sept 2010)

Some ideas I had:

- the Chris Russo POF hacking (persuading for/against this) - the Microsoft/Google search results debacle
