Any good replacement recommendations?

https://feedbin.com/ is really good and not miles apart in the interface

Aktu (http://aktu.io) is some kind of GoogleNews + GoogleReader : news aggregator + rss feeds

On a side note, I'm amazed Digg is still alive.
