Ask HN: Is it time to patch against Spectre and Meltdown yet?

I have several development systems ranging from an ancient Win 7 desktop through to a Macbook a couple of years old.

I've avoided patching until now, because I didn't want to run hastily written OS patches on systems I rely on; and because there didn't seem to be any wild exploits out there yet.

On the balance should I patch now or wait longer? What have you done?
