Hi, no need to worry. It's just to notify the user that the serviceworker is registered and the the whole thing can now work offline - the pregressive webapp is installed.

perhaps it'd be better if I changed the message to something like "??? ready to go offline"?

Yeah this is weird. I think it might be some progressive web app thing? On first load it took about 10 seconds, but every other load was literally instant. chrome://apps and chrome://extensions never changed for me.
