Ask HN: How to get ML/AI/Deep learning job being an Embedded systems engineer?

I am an Embedded systems engineer from past 10 year and very good at both C and Python programming. Having a good mathematics background and recent exposure to deep-learning and modelling, I want to explore the possibility of changing career from Embedded engineer to deep-learning engineer or something alike.

But looking at the Indeed job listing, looks like the employers need people with at least 2-3 yrs of experience to even consider for interview. Apart from getting started on some side projects or hobby projects, how to enter this job area?
