Ask HN: What's the state of the job market in data engineering?

This is a followup to an earlier question asked about "science and machine learning" (url below). Same question, but for Data Engineering.

How in demand are Data Engineers? Does demand vastly outstrip supply? Is there a glut at the entry level, but shortage of experienced capability...or shortage in both? Any differences based on specific technologies, or geographic regions?
