A few court vaugely related court-cases don't make a widespread and reliable principle. If there was such a doctrine it would depend on the presentation of the product, the importance of the software to the product, and the viability of the product if separated into parts.
Further, such a doctrine would allow you to buy the Tesla and remove the software they didn't want to license to you.
So no, that isn't how it is - that's how they want you to think it works so you don't even bother trying.
