Why do you trust Tesla? In what ways are their interests aligned with yours?

Why would you not trust Tesla? Are their interests not aligned with yours?

Usually companies are mainly interested on getting money from me...

Clearly they aren't, they are trying to limit what I can do with my vehicle.

Trying to save the planet would be one way.

It's easy to assume that because Tesla is idealistic about climate change they're also idealistic about free software.
