Ask HN: Where are the end-to-end encrypted DBaaS services?

Database as a Service offerings like Firebase seem to be gaining popularity as a way to outsource backend administration, scalability, security, etc., and they seem like a great fit for apps that just need to sync key-value data to the cloud with little or no translation or processing.

Similarly, there's been a lot of buzz around end-to-end encryption (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram, Symphony) as a way to restrict access to private data without relying on a trusted third party.

Given these trends, why haven't we seen an end-to-end encrypted DBaaS yet? Is there no significant market for it? Are there features (e.g. analytics) that are infeasible to provide without sharing keys with the service provider? Or are there already better ways to realize the above benefits without such a service?
