Ask HN: Transition from programming to finance

Does anyone here on HN have any experience of transition from a job in tech to a finance position? If so how did you do it?

I am currently a professional software engineer, but the longer i do it the more uninterested in the field i become. I have always been very interested in banking, finance and investing in general, so i am considering making a move in that direction
