The concern that comes up again and again is that they are at a disadvantage because they come from a non-technical background. They are worried that a recruiter will take a look at their previous background and deem them unfit for the tech job that they are applying to.
I am having trouble convincing people that there are many who have gone into tech without a computer science degree. I want to ask you HNers, those of you with a non-technical background how did you make the transition? What worked? What didn't? How did you explain the transition to recruiters? Specific details would be great!
